Slættaratindur

At 880 metres, Slættaratindur is the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands. Slættaratindur translates to “Flat Mountain” and if you climb to the top, you’ll easily see why. Its top is not only flat, but also very large; with only a little exaggeration, football matches could be played here.
It is a tradition among the Faerans to climb to the top on the longest day of the year and spend the night there. This means that you can walk along the top and look for interesting views of the surrounding hills and islands or the Risin og Kellingin cliffs.

Legend has it that in excellent weather you can see Iceland from the top of Slættaratindur, so you can try to find out for yourself.
