Kirkjubøur

Kirkjubøur is a charismatic village on the island of Streymoy just a few kilometres from the capital Tórshavn. Kirkjubøur is Faroe’s most important landmark and the ruins of St Magnus Cathedral from the 13th century. century. Another attraction is undoubtedly the Kirkjubøargarður farm, which is originally only from the 11th. century.
Kirkjubøur is the southernmost village on the island of Streymoy, with the islands of Hestur and Koltur ahead and the larger island of Sandoy to the left.
As well as driving or taking the bus, you can walk to Kirkjubøur from Tórshavn in less than an hour and a half.
