Zelenci

Lake Zelenci (Green Lake) is not just an ordinary lake, it is the source of the Sava Dolinka River. The river actually starts at the source of the Nadija River about 5 kilometres away, but after only a few hundred metres on the surface the water disappears underground and comes to the surface here, where it forms Lake Zelenci, which is why this place is called the second source of the river.

The water in the lake has a constant temperature of around 5°C and therefore does not freeze.

On the shore of the lake there are wooden footbridges and a viewing platform from which you can admire the beauty of Lake Zelenci and the surrounding mountains.

Zelenci is about 3 kilometres west of Kranjska Gora, about halfway to the Slovenian-Italian border.
