Gloppedalsura is one of the largest thalli in northern Europe. The site was formed about 10,000 years ago when the Gloppedale glaciers melted.
At this point during the German invasion, a few hundred Norwegian soldiers used the huge stone blocks of Gloppedalsura as a natural cover and managed to repel two German battalions.
