Gustavsfors / Gaaryd

The first mention of the farm dates back to 1640 when a man named Jons I Gaaryd lived there. Later in the 17th century and until 1785 there was a horse farm.
In that year Captain Gustav Adolf Cavallius bought half of the land.
At that time the farm was also owned by brothers Jons and Arvid Andersson.
Captain Gustav Adolf Cavallius wanted to build a paper mill here after his return from the army.
It was built as early as 1786 began a new Epoch in this area.
At the beginning of the 20th century there was a great demand for electricity and the Swedish Electricity Company bought the local power station.
After 150 years as a thriving factory that provided a living for many people, only a few stones remain.
