If things had happened just a little differently in the world, Nyksund on Nyksundøya and Unsmaløya on the Vesterals would probably be a forgotten and almost abandoned village somewhere at the end of the world today. However, thanks to the growing interest of tourists, the village will certainly not suffer such a fate in the near future. If you visit, you will find colourful houses, cafes and small hotels, and the famous Dronningruta hiking trail – the Queen’s Way between Nyksund and Stø – begins (or ends) nearby. Further along the coast there is also the beautiful Skipssand beach.
