Savica

Savica is a beautiful and popular waterfall on the Velika Savica River, which is formed by two streams of water that divide higher up in the caves.

The path leads through the forest on a paved and often artificial path and is charged at 3 Euros/person. Just after the toll gate, cross the Mala Savica stream on the bridge and head up through the forest to the waterfall. At a distance of 1 kilometre you will have an elevation gain of 155 metres. There are several tables along the way where you can sit and relax.

An alternative and not very interesting view of the upper edge of the waterfall can be found if you follow the hiking trail to Črno jezero, where you turn off the main road towards the waterfall (GPS: 46.29358,13.796015). Movement around the place is complicated and therefore it is very dangerous to get to any interesting place. The only water you will see here is the water that flows from the cave passage and after a few metres falls down over the rock edge.

The trail starts at a paid parking lot in the woods about 4 kilometers west of Lake Bohinj, from where you can hike not only to the Savica waterfall, but also to the mountains.
