Svolvær

Svolvær (on the island of Austvågøya) was an important fishing village before it became a town in 1996. If you arrive in Svolvær by ferry from Skutvik or fly into the local airport, it will also be your gateway to Lofoten. If you look at a map, you’ll see that Svolvær is almost at the end of the world, but don’t be fooled, almost 5,000 people live here and hundreds of thousands more tourists from all over the world visit every year.

In the immediate surroundings there are several opportunities to stretch your body and legs. In case you don’t feel like walking, you can try climbing to the top of Svolværgeit.

Take me there!
