The trolls of Trollholmsund are about 700 million years old limestone formations. Apart from their geological value, they also have a human story. These are trolls who were carrying a golden treasure from somewhere. However, before the treasure was brought, the sun rose and the trolls became petrified. As it happens in troll stories.
The limestone formations of Trollene and Trollholmsund can be found about 35 kilometres north of Lakselv and are easily reached after about a half-hour walk from the designated parking area.
