Tromsdalen kirke / Ishavskatedralen

Tromsdalen kirke, which is also called the Arctic Cathedral, is undoubtedly the most famous church in the far north and perhaps in Norway in general. It can be found in the Tromsdalen valley in the eastern part of Tromsø.

The author of the building is the architect Jan Inge Hovig, the building material is mainly concrete and the light character of the church is added by the glass through which the sun rays penetrate. The church was completed in 1965 and the mosaic was added in 1972.
