Vardø

Vardø is Norway’s easternmost city and is located on the island of Vardøya at longitude 31° East. So if you only go south from here, you will reach Kiev and then Ankara.

Two attractions await you in Vardø.

The first is Vardøhus Fortress, a former military fortress now open to the public, which also contains the only tree in the area.

The second attraction is the Steilneset Memorial, which is dedicated to the 91 victims of the witch trials.
